Online Learning Opportunities - Early Childhood Education

  • ONLINE ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Program Objective: To provide you with a comprehensive understanding of early childhood education.

Program Description: In our A.S. in Early Childhood Education, you'll:

    • Apply your knowledge of young children in real-life childhood education settings by participating in three field experiences
    • Learn to formulate a developmentally appropriate approach to the education of young children
    • Better understand children with special needs through preparation of appropriate program plans, which foster positive self-esteem, promote social skills and develop multicultural awareness

As part of the coursework, you will participate in two internship experiences in educational settings, where you will apply your knowledge of best practices for planning, teaching, observing and assessing children’s ongoing development and learning as you work collaboratively with your peers, cooperating teacher, and your course instructor.

  • PROGRAM OUTCOMES

Upon graduation, you will receive an Associate degree to be fully prepared to successfully implement developmentally effective approaches to curriculum and instruction that are research-based, culturally sensitive, appropriate for each and every child, and incorporate the children's family as partners.

Note: Licensure is a professional process that varies from state to state. Please consult the appropriate state agency to determine the specific requirements for licensure in your state. This program is not intended to lead to educator certification. Educators are advised to contact their individual school districts as to whether this program may qualify for salary advancement.
